Founder of the modern Gnostic movement and author of over sixty books on Gnostic Psychology, Philosophy and Anthropology...

Samael Aun Weor, (pronounced sam-ayel a-on vay-ohr) was born in Colombia during the middle of a earthquake on March 6th 1917, he disincarnated on the Christmas of 1977 on December 24th, in Mexico City, where he spent most of his life. From an early age he began to search within the various esoteric schools that existed in that time, in order to find answers to the eternal questions: Who am I? What is the meaning of life? Why am I here?

Together with his wife Litelantes, he founded the first contemporary Gnostic Anthropological school in the early 1950’s, with the sole aim of bringing to humanity the wisdom of Gnosis and the keys to attaining self-knowledge.

In his own words, Samael Aun Weor wrote about his own mission and that of the Gnostic movement:

"Unquestionably many famous intelligent persons of occult knowledge, transmitted to humanity a simple, elementary teaching at the end of the last century and at the beginning of the present century (20th C). It is clear that such persons only proposed to publicly teach the first stages of the secret doctrine. At that time, they did not spend much time in the analysis of the evolving and involutive laws. Rudolf Steiner already affirmed, in 1912, that they, the initiates of that age, had only delivered an elementary knowledge, but that later, a superior esoteric doctrine of a transcendental nature would be given to humanity. Now, we are delivering this type of superior esoteric doctrine..."

He wrote over seventy works during his life, setting forth in a very direct, clear and practical way a marvellous synthesis, scientifically underlining the unifying elements of oriental mysticism (yoga, taoism, Buddhism, Sufism), esoteric teachings (alchemy, Kabbala, Rosicrucian philosophy, hermetic astrology etc), mythology, parapsychology and art. He renounced personal income from the sale of his books and the giving of lectures. However, with the help of a small but dedicated group of students, he was able to accomplish a grandiose work, leaving humanity with a masterpiece of esoteric writings.

The source of the stream of Gnosis runs from the Ancient Mystery Schools and now this stream flows once more throughout the world. It is the task and purpose of modern Gnosticism to explain, educate and unveil these ageless systems of wisdom that are so vital for our culture and the enrichment of humankind.
